Future site updates will be made to my blog (turned online May 18, 2005).
I got my private pilot certificate in November 1999 after over two years of stop-and-start training at Hyde Field (W32) near Andrews AFB, MD. After moving to Ashburn, VA I started flying with Av-Ed Flight School at Leesburg Executive (KJYO) in Leesburg, VA. Since then I bought a share of Blue Ridge Flyers. So far, I've been checked out on Cessna C150, C172, Piper Warrior, Archer, Diamond Katana and C182 (w/high performance endorsement).
I started making these videos for two reasons. First, I wanted to use these as an adjunct to my logbook. If something interesting were to happen while taping the flight, I could save it for posterity. Second, I wanted the ability to review and critique my flight skills. After a few flying buddies found out what I was up to, they asked to see a few of them so I started putting them online. I have since begun to add other videos and photos I've taken or collected related to aviation.
Now you know the rest of the story.
Most videos are available in both Windows Media and RealVideo formats. Real Networks does some things that annoy me, though, and my advice is to avoid the RealOne player. I really don't appreciate it when a company bombards me with ads and puts icons and applications where I didn't ask them to go. Sure, they offer a free player and a certain amount of advertising keeps it that way. But I really despise not having total control over what icons go where on my system and I cannot tolerate a company installing "automatic update" software on my system when I didn't ask for it.
I recommend Windows Media Player.
However, not all my videos are available in WMV format. Several are in RealVideo format only so you'll need to get the RealPlayer from Real Networks to view those videos. I looked into using MPEG compression for my videos, but the size of RealVideo and WMV is far less than MPEGs.
Don't forget to check out the aviation.pilots.capital newsgroup. There's also a web interface to my news server available.
Important
I use a streaming server to provide these videos in an effort to provide the best viewing experience for all.
If you get a "server busy" message, try using the lower-bandwidth video ("modem").
Your feedback is appreciated!

videos, any issues with this site or anything you're in the mood to discuss).
